Have You Visited...?

http://www.simplybellezza.com

Did you realize yet that BDV isn't my only blog? If not, I wanted to introduce you to my other blogs: Simply Bellezza and All Things Emmy. Why do I have them all separate you ask?

Simply Bellezza: Beauty, Makeup, and anything of that nature. I post a lot of makeup tutorials on YouTube, but my videos will always be added to my SB blog. My most popular blog post to date is about finding the perfect shades of purple eyeshadow for your eyes.

All Things Emmy: A cooking, DIY, and other hobbies-based blog. I've been somewhat neglectful of this baby; however, this is changing with planning and some amazing ideas! Find out what my favorite cookie is here and stay tuned for some Valentine-inspired things.

I think that it's easier to separate the content into categories so that you can follow only what you are interested in.

What kinds of things are you interested in? I'd love to know what you'd like to read about here - or even in my other blogs.

You should also follow me on my other social media profiles. I hear that my followers find me Pin-teresting, and that I tweet some fun things here and there. I'm also on Instagram, and my username on on three is Emalyce89. :-)

I hope you're having an excellent Monday!

Sacred Storytelling

Over the past year, I've begun to uncover my purpose in this life - what am I here for and how do I find fulfillment in that purpose? Is it ongoing or is it a one-time goal that I will eventually achieve? What then if that is the case?
There are so many questions to ponder and endless thoughts about the what-ifs and hypothetical future I could potentially have, based on the notion that I knew exactly what my purpose was, that is.
I've known that I'm meant to be a storyteller - that I am a writer and creator, but that alone didn't resonate with me or drive me to work towards any one goal of actually being those things. I already was those things, but there wasn't a sense of fulfillment from bestowing upon myself these titles. Works have been created, but to no real purpose or reason. The question is how to make this state of being something more tangible...more real.
It wasn't until a couple of weeks ago when I read an article about Reese Witherspoon who spok…

A Spring in My Steps

For those of you who have followed me for some time, you must know by now that one of my favorite spots here in Seattle is Green Lake. There's something so serene in walking the almost-three mile path around the lake - all while never even leaving the city. It's a short drive away and I find myself longing for a visit when I think only of its lush natural scenery and everything you could want in a park.
I went to Green Lake earlier in the day than normal and spotted these lovely little crocuses, reaching their aubergine-veined petals through the soil. I see them every year scattered about the city, but something about how they always reach for the sky makes them so relatable.
Starting my walk, I noticed the eerie sky and how white it was with overcast - there were crows cawing and screeching from all over, fields and branches full of birds. My assumption is that after all the earthworms were about and crows were swarming to get a shot at their evening meal.
Concluding my wa…

I Didn't Know What to Say

This world is full of both wonderful and heartbreaking circumstances that wear us down daily. As a nation, we are mourning another tragedy where violence has torn apart communities and families - and for what purpose? We just don't know.
I didn't write on this yesterday because I didn't know what to say. I've read that it's the deadliest mass shooting in American history. I don't know what's more sad to me: that this deplorable act is something that I feel numb towards given the increasing numbers of shootings and tragedies we are seeing nationally, or the act itself: where some random person unbeknownst to even his own family made a decision that forever altered the lives of millions of people.
The biggest encouragement and consolation I can try to provide is to continue to shine the light into the darkest corners of the world. Whether you emit joy and love, peace or kindness, these are a few ways to impact the world in a positive way that anybody can gi…
